Astralium calcar- Turbo star shell.
Astraea shells, (Latin for Star), are gorgeous shells from the Turbo family and have a pronounced spiral star pattern with spiky whorls. They are perfect for many types of crafts, jewelry designs, creating coastal mirrors & frames, & many other shell art projects.
These are raw ocean shells a due show signs of its life in the sea. There may be natural calcium build up, or other slight 'character imperfections' that only make each one unique to themselves. They have a pale green tint (in some cases yellow) with lovely mother of pearl interior layer. These are occasionally seen stripped down to the pearly inner layer- which can be done with a dremel or chemicals to strip the outer calcium layer of the shell. Anyway you choose to use or display them- they will be sure to please with their unique shapes and colors.
They even make great baby sized Hermit Crab shells- and typically have an opening of .50" or less. Smaller crabs LOVE them!
