The best quality amethyst stalactites come from Uruguay, are found underground, and are volcanic in origin. The combination of both amethyst and stalactites is very rare and found in only a few places in the world. They have a core of interestingly shaped, colored agate surrounded by crystalline quartz in varied hues of colors.
This flower slice is a nicely banded cross-section of an amethyst stalactite exposing agate in green shades and a delight of lilac crystal peaks.
